The Instructional Technology program at Kent State Unversity is now offering two of its Masters programs and its Doctroal program completely online. This alllows busy professionals to pursue a degree without leaving home (or work). You can earn the Instructional Technologist Masters , add the Computing/Technology Endorsement to your existing teaching license, or pursue a Doctoral Degree taking online coursework and never having to drive to campus.
Our web-based courses may offer a face-to-face meeting at the beginning of the semester for orientation (this session is not mandatory for those too far away to attend). Online courses are generally based upon course materials, assignments, and asynchronous online exchanges conducted via Kent State's online course delivery system, WebCT/Vista. However, a few of these online courses are also conducted synchronously at the scheduled class time (generally in the evening from 7:20-10PM), where all students meet simultaneously for the class session with the instructor, each on his/her own computer, in an online chat room or a via Kent States virtual classroom software (LearnLInc) that allows for audioconferenced exchanges, Webpage presentation, white board, text chat, small group sessions, class feedback, etc.
All of the basic required courses for both the "Instructional Technologist" Masters Degree and the Computing/Technology endorsement are offered online at various times of the year. The Instructional Technology portions of the Library/Media endorsement program can also be taken online, In conjunction with the distance education efforts of the School of Library and Information Sciences, it may also be possible to earn this endorsement entirely at a distance.
